Setiap Ringgit Sumbangan Anda Adalah Harapan Keluarga Asnaf dan Miskin Untuk Bertahan Satu Hari Lagi

Every Ringgit You Give Is a Lifeline of Hope for Asnaf and Underprivileged Families to Survive Another Day

The Heart Hope for Malaysia campaign is an ongoing effort aimed at helping people in need have the resources they require to sustain  their lives.

For Malaysian families living in poverty and hardship, getting basic supplies is a struggle and many are still sleeping hungry at night. There are even children going to school on empty stomachs.

What is the situation of the families KHOM has helped?

KHOM MALAYSIA’s local on-the-ground team has witnessed countless sufferings, from the most needy citizens who are struggling to feed their children and ailing parents. These are among the very few stories behind closed doors of Malaysians suffering that KHOM MALAYSIA has helped:

Kisah #1 – Sukiman Hilang Pendapatan, 4 Sekeluarga Diuji Stroke Lumpuh
Rantau Panjang, Kelantan
Story #1 – Sukiman Lost His Income, A Family of Four Tested by Stroke Paralysis
Rantau Panjang, Kelantan

At a young age, Sukiman worked as a construction laborer to help his mother support the family. Two of his siblings were tested with severe strokes that left them completely paralyzed, requiring full-time care. The physical and emotional strain of caring for them eventually took a toll on their mother, who later suffered a stroke herself and became bedridden, no longer able to manage her own daily needs.

Since then, the family has relied on the kindness of close relatives who come to help with household matters and daily care. However, the cost of adult milk, disposable diapers, and medications continues to weigh heavily on them. These are essential needs — and they are neither few nor affordable.

Belum sempat bernafas lega, adiknya Sukiman dijemput Ilahi.

Before the family could catch a breath, one of Sukiman’s siblings returned to his Creator. Not long after, Sukiman himself suffered a stroke, leaving one side of his body paralyzed. Even meeting the existing medical needs of the family requires careful rationing, let alone physiotherapy treatment, which involves additional costs and transportation. For Sukiman, such treatment is simply beyond reach.

The basic monthly assistance they receive, together with support from KHOM MALAYSIA, may not be sufficient — but it helps ease the burden carried by Sukiman and the relative who continues to care for the family.

Kisah #2 – Pak Yusof, Rumah Pintu Tak Bertangga
Rantau Panjang, Kelantan
Story #2 – Pak Yusof’s House with a Door but No Stairs
Rantau Panjang, Kelantan

Hampir setiap tahun, rumah Pak Yusof dilanda banjir.

Almost every year, Pak Yusof’s home is hit by floods. The water rises up to waist level, and at times, it submerges everything almost to the roof. Each flood leaves behind damage — household necessities destroyed, and sometimes his motorcycle needing repairs or replacement.

Determined to protect his family, Pak Yusof took matters into his own hands. He raised his house into a two-level wooden structure with a single door built on the upper level — without any stairs.

That door is not meant for daily use. It was built for the most frightening moment — when floodwaters rise too high, and the only way to safety is to leap directly into a rescue boat that arrives.

With irregular income from small village jobs, earning even RM500 a month is considered a great blessing. His small family remains grateful to receive basic assistance that helps them get through each day. However, relocating to a safer place or rebuilding a stronger brick house is not a priority they can afford to consider.

Kisah #3 – Puan Enuta
Ibu Tunggal 4 Anak di Kotaraya, Bekerja Tapi Tidak Dibayar Gaji
Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
Story #3 – Puan Enuta
Single Mother of Four in the City, Working Without Pay
Cheras, Kuala Lumpur

Semasa program Back-to-School di Cheras Kuala Lumpur awal Januari 2026, seorang ibu tunggal datang bersama empat anak remajanya. Dengan wajah ceria, mereka memilih kelengkapan sekolah sebaik mungkin, memastikan setiap ringgit digunakan dengan penuh makna.

During the Back-to-School programme in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur in early January 2026, a single mother arrived with her four teenage children. With cheerful faces, they carefully selected their school essentials, making sure every ringgit was spent meaningfully.

Behind those smiles, however, Puan Enuta has been quietly enduring hardship. She is employed in the private sector, yet has not received her salary for almost four months. At the same time, she is facing the risk of losing her rented home while struggling with the rising cost of living in the city. Despite the challenges and limitations, Puan Enuta holds firmly to one hope — that through education, her children will one day be able to change the course of their lives.

These are among the heartbreaking realities we encountered throughout 2025 — not stories from the past, but the struggles families are facing today. It is for humanitarian reasons like these that KHOM MALAYSIA continues to reach out and provide assistance to those in need. The continued support of Malaysians is vital to ensure this mission of compassion can go on.
